USCIS determined last spring that a civil surgeon’s signature of the Form I-693, Report of Immigration Medical Examination and Vaccination Record can be more than 60 days old before an applicant files for their immigrant visa.

Previously, USCIS considered a completed Form I-693 valid for 2 years after the indicated date of a civil surgeon’s signature as long as the signature was no more than 60 days old before the filed application for an immigration benefit. This requirement was temporarily waived due to extensive backlogs from COVID-19. Now, this USCIS policy guidance permanently removes the 60-day rule and applies to any pending Form I-693s as of March 31, 2023.
